Each year on April 15, all of Major League Baseball joins together to salute Jackie Robinson for breaking baseball’s color barrier. In 2021, the Reds celebrated Jackie Robinson Day at Great American Ball Park on Friday, April 16 when the club faced the Cleveland Indians. All uniformed personnel followed the tradition of wearing Jackie’s iconic number 42, and pregame ceremonies honored the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio as well as the RCF Group, this year’s MLB Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner for the Reds. Plus, fans in attendance received a special Jackie Robinson baseball card, presented by the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio. Reds pitcher Amir Garrett and coach Delino DeShields also participated in a virtual Q&A with a local school to discuss Jackie’s legacy among other topics.
